Local Alcohol Policy

A new Combined Local Alcohol Policy was adopted on 31 May 2016 and has come into effect on 30 August 2016. Policy B1 (relating to trade hours) will be operational from 7 December 2016.

The policy covers the areas of Southland District Council, Invercargill City Council and Gore District Council.

The policy will help inform the decisions of the District Licensing Committees on alcohol licences, provide guidance on whether they should be granted and, if so, the conditions that could be imposed. A key policy included in the LAP is around the maximum trading hours allowed under each type of alcohol licences.
